Are you uncomfortable sharing in an online group?

If sharing in an online group feels uncomfortable, you’re not alone. Do you recognise any of the following statements?

  • ➡️ Many people come into this space having never been encouraged to speak from personal experience in I language – it feels ‘self-centred’.
  • ➡️Maybe you’ve never had a space where emotional honesty was welcomed.
  • ➡️ Maybe you were taught that discussing your struggles made you a burden.
  • ➡️ Maybe you’ve never seen online communities used in a healthy way.
  • ➡️ Perhaps you are sick of sharing only to get a bombardment of unsolicited advice and even criticism.

It’s normal to feel unsure.

You might ask yourself:

  • Am I oversharing?
  • Is this useful to the group?
  • Do I sound too emotional or intense?
  • Should I say anything at all?
  • How do I keep myself safe?

Here’s what I want you to know.

This space works because people share. The group stays alive when members post a few times a week and comment on others’ experiences. We learn from each other, remind each other we’re not alone, and build the kind of community most of us never had growing up.

That said, there are healthy boundaries here.

We don’t encourage ‘trauma-dumping’. That means we avoid offloading raw emotional pain in a way that seeks rescue or regulation from the group. It’s okay to be vulnerable, but posts should focus on reflection, learning, or honest processing. {FYI – everyone here is wonderful at this! 😘}

We have ‘I language’ for very good reason. The team work hard to create a safe yet boundaried space. You will not be bombarded inappropriately in this group.

Your lived experience has value here. We want you to share and build community – it doesn’t work without you 😍

If this is new for you, it might take time to feel safe. You’re allowed to take it slow. But don’t let old stories about being “too much” or “not enough” keep you quiet.

➡️ What has felt hard or helpful about sharing in this space so far? Let me know.
