The Story of the Skull
The Spirit of Fox lives in the dell here – we often hear the yips and see the evidence of this wiley, intelligent creature.
The physical body of the animal was found on a walk, lain out in a familiar sitting spot as if on purpose. We brought the body back to our home, and with a gratitude ceremony we buried the animal in the Earth to be retrieved later.
This process of burying the animals that we find has two purposes. The first is to gift the full flesh back to the Earth as nourishment and food for the soil and what grows there. The second is to render the bones useable and free from any flesh or bacterial growth. Soil is a beautiful cleanser!
