Why your gut instinct might be lying to you
“Trust your gut” only works if your nervous system is regulated.
When your system is stuck in fight, flight, freeze or fawn, it confuses familiarity with safety.
It will tell you to avoid what feels unfamiliar, even if it’s good for you.
You might think something’s wrong, or you might feel like running because your nervous system is shaped by what it knows.
If you grew up with chaos, distance or over-responsibility, your system learned to treat those patterns as normal.
So, even when you encounter calm, kind, or nourishing experiences, your body might still panic because these feelings are unknown.
Safety isn’t always comfortable at first.
Familiar doesn’t mean safe. And safe doesn’t always feel familiar.
If you’re stuck in repeated cycles, this could be why.
That’s why, in The Cauldron’s Way, we start with the Lower Cauldron (where the gut is 😘).

Not mindset. Not a belief. Not even spirit.
Your body comes first.
Until your system learns what safety feels like, your instincts will stay scrambled.
You will struggle to tell the difference between fear and wisdom.
Your body holds deep knowledge, but it needs safety to access that knowledge.
When you tend to the Lower Cauldron, you can clear out stored fear, pain, confusion and grief.
You build the capacity to stay present, and you reclaim the life force you were born with.
